PRIVATE EGYPT EXPERIENCE
Abu Nuhas Wreck Diving Tour from Hurghada
Set out from Hurghada for a serious day of Red Sea wreck diving at Sha’ab Abu Nuhas, the reef known as Egypt’s northern ship graveyard. This private or small-group expedition is planned for certified divers and matches the day’s wreck selection to sea conditions, certification level and recent experience.
Rather than promising a fixed list of sites regardless of conditions, the captain and dive guide choose the safest and most rewarding programme from wrecks such as Giannis D, Carnatic, Chrisoula K and Kimon M. Your written confirmation states the departure marina, pickup zone, planned number of dives, equipment and any marine or fuel supplement.

Why dive Sha’ab Abu Nuhas?
The shallow reef sits close to historic shipping routes near the Strait of Gubal. A series of vessels struck or came to rest around it, leaving an extraordinary concentration of recognisable wrecks. Divers can see bows, sterns, engines, cargo areas and coral-covered superstructure within the same reef system.
Each wreck offers a different story and profile. Giannis D is known for its dramatic engine-room structure and tilted hull; Carnatic combines nineteenth-century maritime history with coral growth; Chrisoula K and Kimon M add further industrial forms and cargo remains. The guide selects routes that respect current, visibility, mooring position and group ability.
Detailed full-day itinerary
1. Hotel pickup and marina check-in
Pickup is arranged from the hotel zone shown in your confirmation, or you meet directly at the marina. Bring your certification card, recent logbook, passport or ID when requested, swimwear, towel and any personal dive equipment agreed with the operator.
2. Equipment, certification and weather review
Before sailing, the team checks certification, last dive date, medical declaration and equipment. The guide explains the marine forecast, probable wreck choices, maximum depth, gas rule, buddy plan and alternative sites. Rental equipment and Nitrox must be reserved in advance.
3. Sailing toward the Strait of Gubal
Enjoy the Red Sea crossing while the crew prepares the mooring and final brief. Navigation time changes with the departure marina, vessel and sea state. Breakfast or hot drinks are provided only when listed in the quotation.
4. First guided wreck dive
The first dive normally focuses on exterior orientation and the wreck’s major structures. Entry, exit and ascent procedures are reviewed before the group enters the water. Penetration is never automatic: it requires suitable wreck certification, excellent buoyancy, appropriate equipment and direct approval from the guide.
5. Surface interval and lunch
Return to the boat for hydration, a proper surface interval and a review of the first dive. Lunch and soft drinks follow the confirmed boat package. The guide may change the second site after reviewing current and group performance.
6. Second wreck dive
The second dive may explore another Abu Nuhas wreck or a different section of the reef. The profile is planned around certification, remaining gas, no-decompression limits and live conditions—not around a marketing promise.
7. Return to Hurghada
After equipment is secured, the boat returns to port. The included transfer, where selected, takes you back to the confirmed hotel zone.
Certification and experience
This is not a discover-scuba activity. An Advanced Open Water qualification or recognised equivalent, recent boat-diving experience and controlled buoyancy are normally expected. Exterior routes and penetration routes are different products. The dive professional may require a refresher, check dive or a more conservative route after a long period of inactivity.
- Provide accurate certification and recent-dive information before booking.
- Use a personal dive computer and follow the agreed depth and gas limits.
- Carry the surface marker buoy, reel or torch requested by the operator.
- Do not touch coral, remove artefacts or enter an overhead area beyond your training.
- The captain and guide retain final authority to change or cancel a site.
